Mountain biking Veluwe

The Veluwe has the perfect environment for mountain biking. From Garderen, the center of the Veluwe, there are several mountain bike routes to ride.

The Veluwe is characterized by a hilly landscape interspersed with forests, moors, sandy plains and villages. Actually perfect for every mountain biker in the Netherlands! Don't have your own mountain bike? Then you can rent one at Veluwe Specialist. You then rent a mountain bike including GPS system. This system shows you the way through the forest as the crow flies, allowing you to choose your own route. As challenging as you wish!

Fatbiking

A new trend in the Veluwe is the Fatbike. A mountain bike with thick front and rear wheels that make it easy to cycle through the loose sand of the Veluwe. Another advantage of a Fatbike is the electric support which makes it easy to get through sand pits, even uphill. On the Veluwe, and especially around Garderen, many sand excavations can be found.

Bicycle routes

The most beautiful cycling routes run from Harderwijk through the woods and sand plains towards Leuvenum through the Ermelose heath towards Drie. Then cycling through the oldest forest in the Netherlands towards the dunes of Garderen. Through the sand excavations towards Uddel. In Uddel via 't Hof to the rear entrance of Paleis het Loo. Then via Hoog Soeren through the woods to Elspeet (called the high devil). And via Staverden back towards Harderwijk. A mountain bike tour full of height differences, forest, heathland, sand drifts and sand excavations. Good luck!
