Harderwijk is located on the edge of the Netherlands' most beautiful nature reserve: the Veluwe. From the built-up area it is only ten minutes by bike to the sand drift the Beekhuizerzand. A rare beautiful area on the North Veluwe, with nice height differences. This area is also widely used by runners and mountain bikers, but also by families who picnic there and enjoy beautiful views. It is therefore part of many different routes for example on the E-bike, E-choppers or electric bicycles.

The Beekhuizerzand is a drift sand area the size of about 200 hectares. The area was restored from a forest area to a real shifting sand area in 2004. For this purpose many fly pines were cut down and the top layer of the soil was removed, so that the shifting sand is exposed again. Click here for more information about Beekhuizerzand.
