- The Loenen Field of Honor commemorates all Dutch people who died during the occupation years due to acts of war, as well as those missing whose final resting place is not known. More than 100 stones bear the inscription "unknown Dutchman. Some 4,000 war dead are buried there.

Construction of the Loenen Field of Honor began in 1948. On October 18, 1949, the field of honor was dedicated by Her Royal Highness Princess Wilhelmina. It was initially intended primarily for Dutch people who had perished in Germany. Later, reburials of victims from the Netherlands and other parts of the world also took place.
