The Loenen waterfalls were dug in the late 19th century so that the water level of the Apeldoorn Canal could be maintained. Loenen has the largest waterfall in the country! 

The waterfalls are actually called the "Vrijenberger Spreng waterfalls" and are not natural. They can be turned on and off manually and have a fall of about 15.5 meters that is largely bridged via 5 waterfalls.
