Herikhuizerveld

The Herikhuizerveld is a hilly moorland that is part of the Veluwezoom National Park in the municipality of Rheden in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The field is named after the nearby former farm Herikhuizen. The area is also called the Postbank, after the monument that stands on a hill on the northeast side of the Herikhuizerveld. The Herikhuizerveld is grazed by Icelandic ponies, Scottish highlanders and the Rheden sheep herd. A sheep pen is located in the area.

From the tops of some hills in the Herikhuizerveld one can look out over the area between the IJssel and Rhine far into Germany. In the area there are several dry valleys with a steep wall on one side and a more gentle wall on the other. One such dry valleys is the Hammock in the southeastern part of the Herikhuizerveld. The area is perfect for hiking and a bikes.
