The Hessenhut

Lookout tower the Hessenhut is part of the centerpiece of the Netherlands. The tower has 3 levels. The upper ring gives a view over the Lunterse Eng and lets you stand at tree level. On the first floor you can sit at the semicircular picnic table or in the Hessenhut. Downstairs you will find a hole symbolizing the digging for gravel and the Ice Age in which this moraine was formed.

For a long time, a simpler version stood on the site of the Hessenhut. The tree at the center of the Hessenhut is a Sequoia tree, it was planted in 2015. The former Hessenhut was elevated over the years to grow with the tree at the time. The renovated Hessenhut was built so that it already has the necessary cross-section to see the young redwood tree grow.Take a look for a stunning view!
