Celtic Fields

Celtic Fields

Website: middelpuntvannederland.nl/

In the middle of the Veluwe you will find one of the largest Celtic Fields in the Netherlands. A Celtic Field is a system of small rectangular fields (approximately 35m by 35m) enclosed by a low rampart. They are also called castellated fields. In addition, you can tour a farmhouse and a storage shed here, which are based on assumptions. However, it is questionable what exactly the farmhouse once looked like.

The small fields were used from 400 BC to several centuries AD. Bucket wheat and spelt, among others, were grown on them. Now wheat, barley, buckwheat and sunflowers, among others, are grown on them.
