BLOG - Round the Veluwe on the Electric Bike
Posted on 2019-05-01
We started our day at the Veluwe Specialist in
Hoenderloo. After a delicious cup of coffee, we set out with the
electric bike of the Veluwe Specialist. In advance we mapped out a beautiful route of 40 km along all the highlights in the area. We created the route using the bicycle junctions.
Our first stop was at the radio building in
Radio Kootwijk. Radio Kootwijk is a transmitter park on the Veluwe, which used to be an important communication link between the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies. The beautiful historic building dates back to 1918. Did you know they also give guided tours here?

We then cycled on to
Assel stop, this is a nice little eatery, here we stopped to have a nice lunch the bouncer is highly recommended! We continued our bike ride to
the Leesten there they have a large playground for the children and beautiful hiking trails where the dogs are allowed to run loose.
We then cycled on to
Beekbergen along the
Steam Train. The Veluwe Steam Train Company (VSM) is a steam train company that has existed since 1975. The steam train runs between Apeldoorn and Dieren on a more than 100-year-old railroad line. There is also a railroad museum at the station in Beekbergen.
Then we arrived in the cozy center of Beekbergen with several stores and restaurants. In July and August there is a Veluwe market in Beekbergen every Thursday evening where people walk in costumes. In the center of Beekbergen we passed the Ice Age, here we had a delicious ice cream. In addition to lots of flavors of ice cream, they also have great lunch options and coffee and pastries here.
After this, we continued our bike ride toward the
Woeste Hoeve. And by that route we came back to the
Veluwe Specialist in Hoenderloo. A pleasant and beautiful day of cycling across the Veluwe!
