The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a bike tour around Staverden on Sunday, October 4, 2026. Discover the beauty and history of the Staverden estate and its surroundings during this lovely bike tour. Spanning 750 hectares, Staverden is a gem nestled in a picturesque stream valley. Led by a forest ranger, you’ll explore the area’s rich history. Learn about the beautiful Staverden Castle and discover how, amidst rugged terrain, a vibrant agricultural settlement flourished here. During the bike tour, we’ll traverse the estate and its surroundings. We may stop at picturesque farms, prehistoric burial mounds, centuries-old grid-pattern fields, or the remains of an imposing Roman military camp. Advance online registration is required.
Time: starts at 2:00 p.m. Duration: approx. 2 hours.
Participation fee: 6.00 euros per person; 3.00 euros per person for donors upon presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forest ranger: This bike tour is not suitable for children, but it’s a wonderful opportunity for adults to enjoy the landscape and history at a leisurely pace.
Bring your own bike. Make sure you have good control of your bike, even on loose sandy paths. Do you have an electric bike? If so, please note that the pace is slow, tailored to regular bikes.
