On Saturday, September 12, 2026, the forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a cultural-historical walk on the Staverden estate. The Staverden estate is a beautifully preserved area, featuring a wealth of interesting farmhouses, unique buildings, and monuments that are closely linked to the castle. For example, you’ll find a coach house, an orangery, a tranquil chapel, and a historic lounge. During the walk across the estate, the park ranger will take participants on a journey through time, sharing fascinating stories about these buildings and their heritage. The walk is unique because the route partly leads through the restricted area of the estate, giving you the chance to see some buildings that are not normally open to the public. The walk ends at the castle, where you can enjoy a snack and a drink. Advance online reservations are required.
Time: starts at 2:00 p.m. Duration: approx. 3 hours.
Participation fee: 10.00 euros per person; 5.00 euros per person for donors upon presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forest ranger: Wear sturdy hiking shoes, as it’s a substantial hike. It’s important to remember that the farms and homes on the estate are still inhabited. We therefore ask that you show appropriate respect during the tours to ensure the residents’ privacy is respected.
Children are welcome, but the “adult” rate applies so that they, too, can enjoy a snack and a drink.
