The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a heathland walk near the Staverden estate on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Enjoy the forest and the vibrant colors of the blooming heather during this beautiful walk. Although the estate consists mainly of wooded areas, meadows, and fields, there are also heathlands to be found. Did you know that there are three types of heather, each with its own unique charm: common heather, cross-leaved heather, and crow heather? We’ll admire all three while they’re (hopefully) in full bloom. The route takes us along about 6 kilometers of hiking trails, where we can enjoy the colors and scent of the blooming heather and the picturesque views.

Time: starts at 2:00 p.m. Duration: approx. 2.5 hours.
Participation fee: 6.00 euros per person; children ages 4–12: 3.00 euros per person; donors: 3.00 euros per person; children ages 4–12 of donors: 1.50 euros per person upon presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forest ranger: Wear sturdy shoes.
