On Sunday, August 2, 2026, the forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a walk filled with thrilling stories on the Staverden estate. Life in the Veluwe used to be hard, and danger lurked around every corner. It’s no wonder, then, that there are so many thrilling stories set in the dark forests and on the vast heathlands. Even today, people still talk about the Black Widow of Staverden, who met her end centuries ago. It is whispered that at night her ghost wanders the grounds of Staverden, tormented by heartbreak. Our experienced forest ranger will take you on a journey through time during this walk through the estate. Listen to centuries-old sagas and legends and feel the chills run down your spine as the stories come to life and the darker sides of this historic estate are revealed.
