The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a unique plant excursion on Saturday, June 13 and 27, and July 4, 2026, to the “Verbrande Bos” on the Staverden estate and the “Leemputten” in the municipality of Ermelo. Normally, no one is allowed to enter these sensitive areas. They are home to rare plant communities featuring species such as round-leaved sundew, small sundew, fragrant night orchid, hairy rock-cress, and bonewort. There is also a chance to spot rare butterfly and dragonfly species. The walk will proceed at a leisurely pace, with occasional stops to take photos. Advance online registration is required.
Time: starts at 2:00 p.m. Duration: approx. 3 hours.
Participation fee: 6.00 euros per person; 3.00 euros per person for donors upon presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forest ranger: This is a wet area, so please wear boots. We’ll be taking a leisurely but long hike. Bring something to drink for the trail. This excursion is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
