The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing an early morning walk across the Wekeromse Zand on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The Wekeromse Zand is worth visiting in all seasons. The vast drifting sand plains, bordered by wooded areas and various pools, make it a truly special place. A walk across the Wekeromse Zand at sunrise adds an extra dimension. There are few other hikers at that time, and the chance of spotting wildlife is greatest. Of course, the forest rangers cannot guarantee that we will see wild animals, because nature cannot be controlled. Even without wildlife, an early morning walk is always a worthwhile experience.

Time: starts at 7:00 a.m. Duration: approx. 2 hours.
Participation fee: 6.00 euros per person; 3.00 euros per person for donors upon presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forest ranger: The hike takes place on loose sand and sometimes along steep forest trails. Good walking ability and a reasonable level of fitness are therefore required. The hike is not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
