Three Kings walk, De Dellen estate

HEERDE - On Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a cultural-historical walk on the De Dellen estate. During the walk, the forest ranger will talk about the development of the estate. Several historical sites will also be visited. The last hour of the walk will be spent on the Renderklippen, where we will watch and listen to midwinter horn blowers. A midwinter horn is a long wooden horn made of birch, alder, or willow. According to ancient tradition, midwinter horn blowers from Gelderland and Overijssel only blow their horns from the first Sunday of Advent (four Sundays before Christmas) until Epiphany (January 6). The purpose of blowing the horn is to dispel the darkness and summon the light, as described in the following saying: "Zee bloas um beurten de boodschap vèdan, dät 't duuster mut goan want 't lich kump d'r an" (Blow the message, that the darkness must go because the light is coming). Advance online reservations are required.
Time: starts at 12:30 p.m. Duration: approx. 3 hours.
Participation: €6.00 per person, €3.00 per person for donors on presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forest ranger: This walk is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over.
