HEELSUM - During Open Monument Days on Saturday, Sept. 13 and Sunday, Sept. 14, the historic Kerkje op de Heuvel in Heelsum will be open to the public.
The little church, built in 1517 by order of the Lords of Doorwerth, served as a house of prayer for residents and workers of the estate. After alternating periods of maintenance, it is now back in excellent condition. Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen has been the owner since 2021. Among other things, visitors can admire the monumental Van Rossum organ and view information about the burial vault of former residents of Doorwerth Castle. Open on Saturday September 13 and Sunday September 14 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Address: Kerkje op de Heuvel Koninginnelaan 24 6866 NM Heelsum.
