BENNEKOM - The rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a bat excursion on Saturday, August 30, 2025, on the Hoekelum estate. Everyone has ever seen a bat during their whimsical flight at dusk or in vampire movies. Our forester will gladly tell you the complete story of these formidable mosquito hunters, who use techniques that humans have not mastered for a hundred years. Several species of bats fly on Hoekelum estate, each species also having its own peculiarities in terms of hunting strategy, the prey they hunt and the sounds they make. To explain this, the forester will spend two hours roaming the estate with the participants, along avenues and waterways. Participation: 6.00 euro p.p., children 8 to 12 years 3.00 euro p.p., donors 3.00 euro p.p., children 8 to 12 years of donors 1.50 euro p.p. on presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forester: Our rangers know where to find bats but we cannot give a 100% bat guarantee. Whether they can be heard and seen depends partly on weather conditions. It is still nature. With rain, thunderstorms or very strong winds the excursion will not take place.
