ARNHEM - The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a heathland walk on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 on the Warnsborn estate. Here, at the end of summer, nature celebrates a colorful feast with large or smaller patches of purple. It is the flowering heather that colors the fields purple and in full bloom the flowers spread a sweet honey scent. The flowering heather then looks like a big honey pot whose lid is open. But the beautiful purple heaths are less obvious than you think. As a nature reserve we want to preserve the heathland, but for nature itself the heathland is "only" an intermediate stage in the colonization of the barren sandy soil. The forester tells participants all about it. Walk along on the heathland near the Schaapsdrift, the heathland near the Kleine Kweek and the Heitje van Maasdijk. Booking in advance online is required.
Time: start at 2 p.m. Duration: approx. 2.5 hours.
