STAVERDEN - The rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a fascinating bicycle tour of the Staverden estate on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Discover the history of the Staverden estate and its surroundings during this beautiful bicycle tour. With its sprawling 750 acres, Staverden is a jewel in a picturesque stream valley. The forester knows a lot to tell about the beautiful Staverden Castle, which was built on the spot where the Van Haersolte family probably had the first stone house erected. Discover how here, amidst wild lands, a lively agricultural settlement flourished. During the bicycle tour we will cross the estate and its surroundings. We will stop at picturesque farms, prehistoric burial mounds, ancient castellated fields and the remains of an imposing Roman marching camp. We cycle at a leisurely pace and regularly stop at special places. Advance booking online is required.
Time: start at 10 a.m. Duration: approx. 3 hours.
Participation: 6.00 euro p.p., donors 3.00 euro p.p. on presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forester: Make sure you have your bike under control, even on loose sandy paths. Do you have an electric bike? Then keep in mind that the pace is slow, matched to regular bikes. This bike tour is not suitable for children.
