HATTEM - The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a morning walk across Petrea estate on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Have you ever noticed how wonderful a spring forest smells? A good reason to join this brisk walk through the woods of Petrea. The estate lies high and dry on the East Veluwe moraine. This ridge, which runs from Zwolle to Arnhem, was formed 180,000 years ago by land ice that flowed here from Scandinavia. Petrea also has an interesting history surrounding the famous meteorologist Buys Ballot. Perhaps we will see traces of deer and boar or the wolf along the way. Since a few years, these animals can reach Petrea via the wildlife viaduct over the A50, which connects the Veluwe with the area. Afterwards, there will be a cup of coffee or tea for enthusiasts. Booking in advance online is required.
