From November through March, Hernen Castle is specially open almost every Sunday afternoon. You can then experience what it was like to live in a castle in winter conditions.
In 2025 we even open an hour earlier n.l. at 12.00 for an exclusive tour by one of our guides. More info
From 13.00 you can independently walk through the castle under the guidance of a talking lantern and experience how it was to live in winter conditions in a castle.
There is also a spectacular presentation in the attic about the lost tower of Hernen and you can practice your archery skills in the cellar.
There are also craftsmen present almost every Sunday, such as the rope-maker, blacksmith, artisan or otherwise, who will explain to you the intricacies of their craft.
In 't Keldertje you can go for a cup of hot chocolate, coffee or tea with some goodies. In short, plenty to do for a pleasant afternoon at the castle.
