On Saturday, June 14, the annual sheep shearing festival will take place at the sheepfold on the Ginkelse Heide (N224, across from Juffrouw Tok restaurant and Bloem restaurant). Starting at 10:00 a.m., a large group of shearers will be shown shearing sheep the traditional way with scissors. This traditional handicraft is well worth watching.
There will also be a demonstration of electric shearing. In addition to shearing, there is an extensive program for all ages. There is a sheep herding demonstration and in the afternoon a falconry show. In between there will be performances by Trump Theater Doorgedraaid.
The sheep market can be visited throughout the day, with a variety of more than 30 stalls. The Trapakkers and Felue will also be present again with demonstrations of old crafts.
For the children there is a special program with children's games. With a children's card (€ 5, - including something to drink and sweets) they can participate in all activities, such as the craft bus, face painting, old Dutch games and a bouncy castle. Sandwiches can also be baked over a wood fire.
The catering square will be open all day for various snacks and drinks. Admission is free; parking costs €3.
