Wandering: heather hopping across the Veluwezoom - Veluwezoom National Park

Join one of five rambles across the beautiful Veluwezoom! The guides will introduce you to the most beautiful areas and tell you about both nature and history. You walk about 14 km and start at 10 am, around 4 pm you will be back at the starting point.

Heather hopping as the heather turns purple
You start this ramble at Pavilion 'The Posbank'. You follow in the footsteps of the many tourists who have been coming here for over 100 years to enjoy the impressive purple heather landscape. You can see how long ago ice pushed up the ground and formed two opposing moraines, moraines that you can see as 'mountains' to the left and right of the footpath. Chances are you will encounter sheep and horses grazing the area.

After this heathland area, a few more surprises await you: you walk through the drifting sand and across the prairie-like Rheder- and Wortrhederheide. Throughout the hike you have a chance to spot deer, boar and Scottish Highlanders or discover their tracks. You will look back on a magnificent, highly varied hike!

Hiking condition
We will hike about 14 km over peaks and valleys in hilly terrain with occasional tough gut bites and we will enjoy sweeping views. Because of the height differences, this hike is only suitable for people with a good walking condition.

The group consists of a maximum of 12 participants and 2 guides.
Come along and experience the smell and color of the beautiful vast heathlands of the Veluwezoom at this time of year.
