Strolling with the forest ranger along the Leuvenumse beek

Strolling along the Leuvenumse Beek with the forest ranger
A nice trip for those who are not afraid of mud and bogs and would like to learn more about the richness of nature around the Leuvenumse Beek.

Take a walk with the forester along the longest brook in the Veluwe. A brook with three names; it begins in Staverden with the name Staverdense Beek, then is called Leuvenumse Beek and ends as Hierdense Beek in the Veluwe lakes. The brook has a length of up to 17 km.

The brook was restored a number of years ago and can once again take its natural course. As it meanders, the brook makes its way through the forest. It is a sturdy stream that can overflow its banks during heavy rainfall. Good waterproof shoes are no luxury.

Along the way, the forester shows you what this stream restoration has brought about in the area.

With a little luck you may spot a kingfisher. The stream also attracts other animals; the Leuvenum forest is rich in wildlife. There are many boars and red deer, but also smaller animals like the roe deer, badger and fox. Who knows what you might encounter!
