Botterdagen & Open Monument Day

During the second weekend of September, the Elburg harbor turns back in time. Modern ships make way for nearly 50 historic botters, which participate in the largest botter competition in the Netherlands. On Thursday evening the ships festively sail into the harbor during the fleet show, accompanied by marching bands. Friday is dedicated to the Elburger Botterbedrijvenwedstrijd, in which the botters will depart for Harderwijk in the morning and compete for the win on the water between Harderwijk and Elburg in the afternoon.
On Saturday there is plenty of activity in the harbor: visitors can sail along on a botter, take a look at the Botter Museum and Werf 'de Hellege', or enjoy the cozy market, where eel and salmon are smoked.
All museums can be visited for free or for a small fee.
