How did the estate function in the past?
Take a tour of the Staverden estate and discover how this unique estate functioned completely self-sufficiently at the beginning of the last century. Guided by the forester, you will learn how agriculture, forestry and reclamation were used to keep the estate running. You'll pass the historic water mill, essential for grinding grain and fodder, and gain insight into its importance to daily life on the estate. During the walk, you'll hear more about the amenities of the past, such as the school, bakery, chapel and hunting. A special opportunity to see how an estate sustained itself.
