The drawings in the museum galleries provide the inspiration and two teachers guide in the execution. Anne Tjallingii, visual education teacher and Krijntje Oskam, visual artist teach you to delve into the handwriting and drawing techniques of Hans G Kresse through examples.
Hans G Kresse (1921-1992) was a master at drawing facial expressions and mastering anatomical rendering of his figures. In his drawings, the light and shadow effect by using only black ink is also sublime. In the workshops we will see examples of emotions such as joy, anger, fear and amazement expressed in different characters. You will work with these by drawing with pencil and ink brush (materials available).
Hans G Kresse himself said: “What I can do, anyone can learn, it’s not art, it’s just making pictures and that’s not that difficult.†A very modest remark from an artist and painter who has been called the Rembrandt of comic art….
