Cultural history walk, De Dellen estate

HEERDE - The rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a cultural-historical walk on Saturday, November 2, 2024 on the estate De Dellen. During this walk the forester will take you to the part of estate De Dellen near Heerde, where traces from the time of the Buys Ballot family can still be found. This family owned De Dellen from 1852 to 1928. Prof. Chr. H.D. Buys Ballot, meteorologist and founder of the KNMI, bought De Dellen in 1852. Not only to earn money with forestry, but also to be able to devote himself to his scientific activities in peace and quiet. Upon his death, his son Cornelis Sebastiaan inherited the estate and continued it in the family tradition. He died in 1928 and is interred in a vault on the property. Discover the history of this family and the influence they had on the landscape of De Dellen. Advance online reservations are required.
