Wandering tour, Petrea estate

HATTEM - The forest rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing a wandering tour of the Petrea estate on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024. This vast estate is nearly 460 hectares in size and lies high and dry on the East Veluwe lateral moraine. This ridge, which runs from Zwolle to Arnhem, was formed about 180,000 years ago by land ice that flowed here from Scandinavia. Petrea Estate has a nice history around the famous meteorologist Buys Ballot who wanted to make stones from the loam in the area. We may also see traces of deer and boar along the way. Since a few years these animals can reach Petrea via the wildlife viaduct over the A50, which connects the Veluwe with the area. The forester would like to wander through this area with you. Booking in advance online is necessary.
Time: start at 10 a.m. Duration: approx. 2 hours.
Participation: 5.00 euro p.p., children 4 to 12 years 2.50 euro p.p., donors free of charge on presentation of a valid GLK donor card.
Tip from the forester: wear sturdy walking shoes because the paths are often loose.
