King's Day in Harderwijk
This year is a historic year! King Willem-Alexander has already been our king for 10 years. Worthy of congratulations. With Maxima at his side! A beautiful royal couple. We as Harderwijk are very proud of it.
Last year we celebrated Koningsdag as usual for the first time. This year we are going all out again. In Harderwijk it is always a true people's party. From all over the region people come to our city to celebrate the Orange Festival. King's Day is a wonderful day. Usually it is nice spring weather and everyone has a day off or even May vacation. So really a day to put out the flag with flying colors and celebrate together.
The program this year sounds like clockwork again. It starts on the evening before King's Day. On the Market, the catering entrepreneurs will organize a great “Koningsnacht Live†with DJs from Radio 538 on Tour. You must have experienced this.
On King’s Day, some people are up early to wander around the rug market before dawn. On and around the Vischmarkt all kinds of beautiful things can be bought for a low price. Also in the morning, the songs at the aubade on the Market are traditionally sung loudly by many Harderwijkers. This year is very special because the Harderwijk Male Voice Choir is celebrating its 100th anniversary and they will grace the aubade with their fantastic polyphony. An extra reason to get out of bed early.
In the Hortus Park children can play old Dutch games, jump, climb and dress up as knights or princesses. Dreams come true in the park!
All the more reason to stroll through the city, meet acquaintances, look around, grab a terrace and above all, enjoy. In short, a royal day for everyone!
The board of the Oranjevereniging Harderwijk wishes you a wonderful King's Day!

chairman Orange Association Harderwijk
