APELDOORN â€" On Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March 2024, the 6th Midden-Veluwe Walking Tour will be organized by the Walking Tours Working Group Apeldoorn e.o. of the Stichting Internationale Vierdaagse Apeldoorn.
This one-day hike allows participants to get acquainted with the area in which part of the 69th Cantharel International Vierdaagse Apeldoorn will take place in July. The routes pass through vast forests, over heathland and along cultural-historical farmland that includes moraines and a deeply ingrained ice-age meltwater valley. Together with the nature reserves of Kootwijk it is, with 10,000 hectares, one of the largest contiguous pieces of wilderness in the Netherlands.
Distances of 5, 10, 15 and 20 kilometers can be chosen. The routes are the same on both walking days and are marked with arrows.
Nordic walkers are also welcome. Dogs are allowed, provided they are leashed. There may be wildlife grates in the course.
The start is at Van Der Valk hotel Apeldoorn De Cantharel, Van Golsteinlaan 20, 7339 GT Ugchelen. Due to limited parking, it is requested to come by public transport or bicycle as much as possible.

Participants can sign up in the Veluwe Room of the Congress Center. Start times are: 20 km 9:00-11:00, 15 km 9:00-12:00, 10 km 9:00-13:00 and 5 km 9:00-14:00. Both shortest distances have no rest area facility along the way. Walkers must complete their route by 4:30 p.m. at the latest.
Any hiking enthusiast can participate in this tour. Participation is â'¬4.50 per person, members of a recognized hiking organization pay â'¬3.50.
Participants who registered before February 28 for the Cantharel International Four Days Marches Apeldoorn (start registration February 15, 2024) can walk for free upon presentation of the registration certificate.
