Walking excursion Hoge Veluwe and World War II - Hoge Veluwe National Park

In the southern part of The Hoge Veluwe National Park; the part adjacent to Deelen Airport, there are many remnants of World War II.

In the vicinity of Deelen, the Germans built the military airfield Fliegerhorst Deelen at the time. This airfield was partly on the territory of The Hoge Veluwe National Park. This part of the Park is beautiful, and for many visitors a lot less known than the rest of the Park.

During this walking excursion you will visit the area around the airfield, an area you are not normally allowed to enter. The emphasis is on some recognizable remnants of this important World War II airfield.
The excursion starts at Theehuis de Kemperberg (five minutes cycling distance from Schaarsbergen entrance) and goes partly through difficult terrain and will take about three hours.

Please note: price activity does not include entrance to Park. This excursion involves deviating from the hiking trail and walking through tall grass. Due to the risk of tick bites, we recommend wearing long pants and a sweater or t-shirt with long sleeves.
