HEERDE - The rangers of Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen are organizing several deer rutting excursions on the De Dellen estate between September 16 and October 7, 2023. In September and October it is rutting time for the red deer. The males then gather a number of hinds around them. This group is called a rutting pack. The males defend the pack by belling, among other things. This is a magnificent primal sound. Want a chance to hear the belling sound? Then join the forest ranger. We will listen at the wildlife observation post in the resting area of De Dellen. Advance online reservation is required.
� Time: start at 6 p.m. Duration: approx. 2.5 hours.
� Participation: 12.50 euros p.p., donors 7.50 euros p.p. on presentation of a valid GLK donor pass.
� Tip from the forester: We are in a rest area, therefore the chance of seeing wildlife is greater. We cannot give a 100% guarantee; whether the animals show themselves well depends on several factors. Silence is a requirement; phones should be turned off and photography is not allowed due to nuisance and disturbance. Dogs should also stay at home. Put on dark (noiseless and warm) clothes and bring binoculars. The excursion is suitable for children over 12.
