Ministoom Day Putter Steam Pumping Station - Putten

The Putter Steam Pumping Station is one of eight still working steam pumping stations in the Netherlands. Visit us during the operating days and experience this unique heritage in action.

The arrival of the steam engine changed the world, people were no longer dependent on human and horse power, water and windmills.
The polder Arkemheen is a meadow landscape with high water levels and puddle-wash area. It is of great value for meadow birds and therefore designated as a Natura 2000 area.
The water level in this polder was kept at the right level for almost one hundred years by two steam pumping stations, including the Putter Steam Pumping Station.
Experience for yourself how quietly the steam engine works and smell the scent of steam and hot oil.
