Open battle for national dressage titles
Ermelo â€" From May 25 to 28, the NK Dressage will be held in Ermelo. The registration is closed and that means it is known who will compete for the Dutch dressage titles. One thing is certain, the battle is more exciting than ever. Who will be on the podium is certainly not a done deal.
In the Whitsun weekend, the Dutch dressage top in the seniors, youth and Para Dressage at the start during the NK Dressage that is held at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo.
Repetition of moves?
Dinja van Liere, the double bronze medalist from the World Dressage Championships in Herning last summer and the reigning Dutch Champion, is coming to Ermelo to defend her title. Not with her most famous trump card Hermès N.O.P., but with her other top horse Hartsuijker. The competition this year comes from TeamNL rider Thamar Zweistra, who is bringing Hexagon’s Ich Weiss. Last year this combination was hot on Van Liere’s heels and won silver at the NK then. Will it be a repeat performance for Van Liere and Zweistra or a changing of the guard?
Olympic trump cards
Besides the two top amazons, many more familiar names are coming to Ermelo. The Olympic Glock’s Dream Boy will make his appearance under the saddle of Hans Peter Minderhoud. It has been 12 years since Minderhoud captured the Dutch title, so he will certainly be keen. In addition to Glock’s Dream Boy, Minderhoud will also bring the talented Invictus to the start. Marlies van Baalen also has two irons in the fire: her Olympic Go Legend who recently made his comeback and the promising Habibi DVB. Other familiar names are Adelinde Cornelissen, Lynne Maas, Denise Nekeman, Diederik van Silfhout and Laurens van Lieren.
Britt Dekker in ZZ-Zwaar
Besides the Dutch Championships in the ZZ-Zwaar, the KNHS Championships in the ZZ-Zwaar and the Small Tour will also be held. Among the competitors in the ZZ-Zwaar is Britt Dekker and her fantastic grey stallion George. But also Dinja van Liere, Adelinde Cornelissen, Kirsten Brouwer and KNHS Talent Team member Febe van Zwambagt. There is great interest in the Small Tour championship, in which beautiful sport is expected with Renate van Uytert-van Vliet, Marieke van der Putten and Dinja van Liere, among others, on the participants list.
Marten Luiten comes to defend title
For the youth, the NK Dressage is an important competition for the European Championships later this season. KNHS Talent of the Year Marten Luiten won the title last year in both the Young Riders and U25. With Fyona he will compete again this year in the U25. He can expect stiff competition from, also KNHS Talent Team members, Thalia Rockx and Febe van Zwambagt. Former Dutch Champion Daphne van Peperstraten and Greenpoint’s Cupido will also show up. Reigning champion in the Juniors, Lara van Nek, brings two other assets to the NK this year and also in the Children it will be exciting to see who will finish on the podium. For the ponies, the competitions in Ermelo are an observation.
Para WC team at the start
